POP-UP TEAHOUSE BERLIN & CRAFTS CLUB 2025

CRAFT, CONNECT, COME TOGETHER FOR TEA!
in 2025, POP-UP TEAHOUSE is set to unfold over a series of monthly events with these dimensions:

ARTS & CULTURE STAGE
On four Saturdays the BERLIN ASIA ARTS CLUB is coming to the teahouse stage, featuring artists, dialogues, performances and pop-ups invited by the BAAC and their creators, the Berliner Literarische Aktion. On another Saturday, the Pop-Up Teahouse will transform into a special Chengdu-style and Cinema-edition, curated by CiLENS – Chinese Independent Cinema Collective. Both program partners receive co-funding by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.

TEA CULTURE
From Tea Rooms to specialty tea workshops, and a TEE SOMMERFEST – the program is open to collaborations from the tea expert community and tea lovers alike.

CRAFTS CLUB
It is a space to be inspired, explore, and connect with others through creative social hangouts or creative skills workshops. It is the space to relax and spark ideas around the topics we are passionate about, including care, sustainability, social cohesion, and creative methods and cultural techniques.

My mission is to stand with the few remaining small farmers and producers who continue to keep its pride alive”. Price: 15 €. Registration: Swikriti, swikrai13@gmail.com.

Berlin Asia Arts Club Program:
15:00-18:00 Design & Craft Workshops
At a time when artificial intelligence is becoming part of our everyday lives, the tactile world of design and craftsmanship shines with renewed relevance. These practices embody not only human creativity, but also the decades of artistic knowledge and the reworking of traditional cultural techniques. As poetic and political gestures, they speak to us directly – a tangible expression of cultural continuity, identity, and quiet resilience in times of change.
The Design Edition of the Berlin Asia Arts Club brings together artists and designers who create with their hands, materials, and memories. Working across disciplines and cultures, they embroider, print, draw, and design – inviting the public to witness these processes up close and to take part themselves.

  • Comics & Illustration: Speech Bubbles in Comics
With Maki Shimizu (Tokyo–Berlin), comic artist and illustrator, blending Japanese aesthetics with European storytelling traditions. Her work explores narrative through line, drawing, and print.

  • Ink & Material: Drawing from Literature
With Walter Yu (Beijing–Berlin), painter, poet, and author, known for his meditative ink works. His art is deeply shaped by literary imagination and language.

  • Embroidery & Self: Between Nature, Culture, and Contemplation
With Yurika Saito (Tokyo–Berlin), visual artist working with embroidery, natural dyeing, and painting. Her practice reflects inner landscapes and the quiet rhythms of nature.

  • Objects Between Cultures – Printmaking Workshop
With Yimeng Wu (designer/illustrator, Studio Wu 無) and Tao Hai Yue (curator/artist, Normal Normal). Together, they explore the encounter of images, culturally coded objects, places, and identities. Their linocut workshop creates a tactile dialogue between East and West.
